Well, MG2 as plugin in Logic still doesn’t show up. Thanks again and hopefully you will get an idea and be able to give me another hint… What do you mean with: if nothing else helps, try to delete its plugin cache? I also installed GarageBand and downloaded the MG GarageBand version from the App Store. Logic has the architecture Apple but did not see AUHostingCompatibilityService(Logic Pro). When I open a project and look in the Audio FX on an audio track, in Audio Units are all my plugins except MG. There MG shows up and it says: successfully activated! I also looked under preferences in the plugin manager. The MG component is in the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder (I copied it there). Logic is running in Silicon mode (Open using rosetta is unchecked). I did everything you described but no results. I am using M1 MacBook Pro and also Big Sur 11.2.3 and Logic 10.6.1. Thanks for reading my issue and hopefully somebody can give me some clue. So, any kind of advice would be very welcome… I have been using Midiguitar 2 a lot on my old iMac 27 inch mid 2010 and it worked really fine! I thought, now with the new Macbook M1 it would be working even better because of faster tracking and possibility of lower latency settings but, nothing. Well, I hope somebody can give me some advice. Can not find any documentation about that). (About the Rosetta: I would also like to know how I can find out if it is running. But after trying everything I could think of it still does’t work. Also it’s said that for not yet compatible software there is the rosetta 2. I’ve been reading that there should not be a compatibility problem with the M1 processor. I installed the midi guitar component and the vet in the right folder: library, audio, plug-ins, components and vst. Installed the Midiguitar 2 but whatever I try, the plugin doesn’t show up in Logic Pro. In this case, someone who buys the old mac of someone who is not interested in music will have no choice but to be upset.Hello everybody. While it is possible to install an old version, I do not think it ethical to not offer the install older version option. This solution also works for iPhones and iPads. On macOS Catalina when the download completes you'll have GarageBand 10.3.5, which is the last compatible version. The current version requires macOS 11.0 or later, but you can download the last compatible versionĬlick the download button. You'll be greeted with a different dialog window: From the App Purchase History page click the download button. If you try either of the above methods you'll be greeted with the same error message as earlier: You cannot click on the download button from the GarageBand app page. You cannot click on the download button from the app Search results. Now, there are two ways you cannot install GarageBand 10: You may need to Sign Out/Sign In a couple of times, or even reboot your Mac, but it should appear within a few minutes. You don't need to let the download finish, you can cancel it.īack on your own Mac App Store (on Sierra through Catalina) you should be able to go to your App Purchase History (click on your Apple ID in the bottom-left corner of the window) to see the new GarageBand app at the top of the list, being your most recent purchase. To get around this you need to get some screen time on a Big Sur or Monterey system: GarageBand can't be installed on "Macintosh SSD" because macOS version 11 or later is required. If you never "purchased" the free GarageBand 10 app before Big Sur came out you're not going to be able to click the Get/Install buttons for it on Sierra-Catalina now due to the store validation logic throwing the error message: This app has the Package ID: 10īecause it has a different Package ID, GarageBand 10.x is not considered to be an upgrade from GarageBand 6.0.5 by the Mac App Store, but an entirely different app. This is the modern GarageBand app that was released with OS X 10.9 Mavericks back in 2013, currently in the 10.0.0-10.4.4 version range. It is a 32-bit app and so won't work on 64-bit-only operating systems like macOS Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey. This was the GarageBand app released with iLife '11 package back in 2010, in the 6.0.1-6.0.5 version range, and is probably what a lot of long-time Mac users have already. There are currently two entirely different GarageBand apps in the macOS App Store:
